Hughes-Reed's Primary mission is to provide services that address the psychological and mental health needs of children, adults and families from both mainstream groups and multicultural communities, who have been historically under-represented in gaining access to mental health services.
A multicultural approach to counselling challenges the assumption that one style of interviewing is transferable to all client groups. All learning and identities are formed in a cultural context. We all belong to diverse social group and form personal and social identities that are influenced by our race, ethnicity, and culture. Understanding the cultural and sociopolitical context of a client’s behaviour is essential to accurately assess, interpret and treat an individual.

About Our Director Dr Richard Majors
Dr Richard Majors is former Clinical Fellow at Harvard Medical School and Boston Children’s Hospital, one of the largest children’s hospitals in the US.
